Getting Organized

There are many ways to get organized!  I will discuss three methods that I feel are the most effective.

1. INSERT INDEX - This system is great for people who are just getting started or who want to take a basic approach.

Supplies:
  • Filing system (accordion file or portable filing box)
  • Permanent black or blue marker
  • Scissors
  • Pen
  • Small accordion file or wallet with multiple dividers
With this method, you will simply collect your Sunday inserts each week.  Then write the date the insert was issued (ie- 3/24 for Sunday March 24th) on the front of each insert.  You will find the date on the spine in very small print.  If you receive more than one insert in the Sunday paper and/or more than one Sunday paper you will write the date on EACH Red Plum, Smart Source, P & G, etc.  Then file them in your large accordion file or portable filing box by date.  I keep all of the inserts (ie- Red Plum, Smart Source, P & G, etc.) from each Sunday together in one file.  Then I put the next week's inserts in the next file...

When you are ready to use a coupon simply cut out that coupon from your Insert Index and place it in your small accordion file or wallet.  This file is organized by store.  So if you have a tab for CVS, for example, you will place all of the coupons you plan to use at CVS that week in it's corresponding place.  When it's time to go to the store, you bring your small file or wallet and you have your coupons ready to go!
